Ben Winkes practices at Sea Mar’s Mt. Vernon clinic in his native Skagit County. He has been with Sea Mar since 2002.
Dr. Winkes earned his undergraduate degree in History and Biology at Stanford University. After college he spent a year as a community organizer in Idaho as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, and then went on to medical school at the University of Washington, graduating in 1998. He completed his family medicine residency and a fellowship in faculty development and women’s health at Sutter Medical Center in Santa Rosa, California, where he also served as a chief resident.
Dr. Winkes’ medical training includes working and volunteering in multiple medical settings in Mexico, Guatemala, and Nicaragua, where he continues to volunteer at a rural clinic. He enjoys reading, studying history, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
